Our hotel. Can't read all of the Chinese, but that first character means "emperor", so I think that's some kind of clue that it was a nice place. And yes, that's what the air normally looked like.
I don't know how much it actually cost, because all Jingsong told me was "the $65-$80 a night range," and when he was helping us check in he threw his credit card at the receptionist before I even knew they'd asked for payment. It was a very nice place, with a large bathroom, living room, and seperate bedroom. Easily $200+ a night in North America (or Japan). One of the nice perks of visiting a developing country.
Anyway, here are some photos of the "view" from our room. Nice as the place was, it couldn't really do anything about the Beijing air. I'll continue with a report on our visit to the Summer Palace (not to mention the Great Wall, and all the stuff we've been doing since we got back to Japan) soon.
Looking out one of our windows towards the Beijing TV tower and studios.
A similar view, during a rare day of good visibility. This was quite luckily the same day we went to the Great Wall.

Well, tough luck, as they say. Pretty nice looking! Love, M
6 ring roads, Greg.
They're numbered up to six, but there's no 1st ring.
