Shanghai, Part 1

We've been too busy to sit down and write about what we've been doing, but suffice it to say that everyone has been having a wonderful time out here. We were in Shanghai over the last weekend through Tuesday, yesterday we drove down the eastern shore of Tokyo Bay, and today we're off to Kyoto on the bullet train. Like I said, busy. Anyway, here's our first batch of pictures from Shanghai. I'm sure there will be more to follow.

A market in the (still quite poor) old town.

Towers and a park near our hotel, in Huangpu.

The smog gives the buildings an otherworldly glow at night.

Pudong, as seen from across the Huangpu river. No, it wasn't foggy, the air quality is just crap.

Part of a very nice park where we sat in the middle of the day to enjoy green tea.

Bikes and rickshaws still account for a large percentage of traffic, although they're sharing the road with BMWs.
