So I guess I haven't posted here in a while. I noticed this when I saw that NONE of my blog posts are on the front page anymore. Two things are happening for me at my school.
1. I am sick. Before Thanksgiving I went to a university hospital in Sakura city to do a bunch of tests and get an official certificate of diagnosis of asthma. This came after I missed a few days of work with a 38 degree fever and wheezing. Unfortunetly, it didn't change the medicine I get to treat it (antibiotic, steroid patch, cold medicine, fever reducer) so again from last Friday I've been having 38 degree fevers that the meds don't seem to help. On Friday, Greg was called around 1:30 to pick me up because I almost passed out in my lunch and they put me down for a nap. I guess I should clarify by "nap" I mean they put me in a bed with a lot of blankets and pillows and said to rest and then proceeded to ask me questions or take my temperature or give me tea every 5 minutes. I had to go to nap time again today, and they actually let me sleep this time because I let it be known that I had work to do and I wasn't going home. I have to make a Christmas party!
2. We are having a Christmas party at school. The kids have been practicing to sing Jingle Bells and play it on bells, learning how to read A Visit from Saint Nick ('Twas the Night Before Christmas), and making mini-christmas trees out of pine cones. I have been making the set for the poem (some kids will act it out) and pinatas as well as making the music room a winter wonderland or whatever. In class we've been making Christmas cards, which turns out to be much harder than you would have expected. Some kids are just totally being butts about it. Whatever. Kids who don't turn in cards don't get a card. End of story. But I am feeling quite a bit of stress about it because the party is on Thursday and I am running at about 30%. Luckly, most of my classes were cancelled this week so our kids can go to a meeting at the culture center about bullying. So I have some time to get work done.
So, that is about it. I am sick and busy. I both am super excited about winter vacation and dreading the time before it. Unlike when I was in school, I can't just take a note from my doctor to the students and tell them we're going to delay the Christmas party because I'm sick. Seven year old children just don't accept that kind of stuff.

Asthma! Geez. Do you think there's an allergy component--like maybe it won't be as bad in a different location (like home home?)? Good luck with the Christmas party! MPM
Oh, I had allergy tests last year. I am not allergic to anything here. It seems I am just a wussy about this never being warm thing.
