cold
For some reason, housing insulation is regarded as optional out here or something. Most houses I've been in have it, but most apartments (especially if they're more than 10 years old) don't. Our apartment is, of course, uninsulated. It's 4 degrees centigrade (about 39F) downstairs in my kitchen right now. My olive oil has congealed into an opaque yellow blob.

oohhhh...I feel so awful for you, Greg. I've had a full season of winter travel discouragements in the last 24 hours, but I am in a warm hotel room now. Snuggle up with Sam and the cats....and come back to Oregon soon! Love, Mum
wow, i guess my apartment isn't so bad after all. my alarm clock says the temperature in my living/bedroom is 15. i don't believe it, but still, i'm pretty sure it's warmer than your kitchen.
